Coffee 2.0 review
Coffee 2.0 is a very complete mushroom coffee: 7 mushrooms, 18 ingredients and around 100 mg of caffeine per cup, as much as a regular coffee. It is a good choice if you want to keep all your caffeine. If, on the other hand, you are looking to cut down, Brainstoorm contains 20 mg, five times less, in a vegan recipe with no animal collagen. We compared the two labels line by line, using the actual doses of extract.
Who is writing: Mush n Go makes Brainstoorm, a direct competitor of Coffee 2.0. This page compares what each brand states on its website and, for Brainstoorm, the technical data sheet from our contract manufacturer. Figures recorded on 6 October 2026. We have no connection with Tasty Dose, the brand that sells Coffee 2.0.
Brainstoorm coffee flavour
Lion's mane, cordyceps and chaga from the fruiting body, maca, ashwagandha and roasted chicory. The taste of coffee, five times less caffeine.

Two good products, for two opposite needs.
Coffee 2.0 and Brainstoorm look alike on the shelf: a powder to stir in, mushrooms, plants. The difference comes down to one number: caffeine. Coffee 2.0 delivers as much as a coffee. Brainstoorm was designed to deliver five times less.
- Brainstoorm is for you if coffee makes you jittery or eats into your sleep, if you eat vegan, or if you like to know exactly what is in your cup: eleven ingredients, each with its dose.
- Coffee 2.0 is for you if you want as many mushrooms as possible, want to keep your usual dose of caffeine, and do not mind bovine collagen.
- On price, Coffee 2.0 is slightly cheaper as a one-off purchase (€1.33 per cup versus €1.42). Brainstoorm pulls ahead on subscription (€1.00, then €0.78 over 3 months).
What is Coffee 2.0
A powdered supplement, sold by Tasty Dose.
Coffee 2.0 is a powdered food supplement from the brand Tasty Dose, sold online in around twenty European countries. You prepare it like instant coffee: one spoonful in hot water or milk. The brand presents it as “one of the most powerful mushroom coffees in Europe” and claims more than 400,000 customers.
The ingredients in detail
What is in one serving of Coffee 2.0.
Tasty Dose states the dose of each ingredient and, for the mushrooms, the extraction ratio. That is a real plus: many brands settle for a “mushroom blend” with no figures. Here is the full breakdown.
| Ingredient | Stated dose | Ratio | Actual extract |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lion's mane | 4,000 mg | 5:1 | 800 mg |
| Tremella | 5,040 mg | 20:1 | 252 mg |
| Samsoniella hepiali | 2,000 mg | 10:1 | 200 mg |
| Shiitake | 1,000 mg | 4:1 | 250 mg |
| Maitake | 1,000 mg | 5:1 | 200 mg |
| Reishi | 1,000 mg | 10:1 | 100 mg |
| Cordyceps | 960 mg | 20:1 | 48 mg |
| Total 7 mushrooms | 15,000 mg | 1,850 mg | |
| Rhodiola | 1,000 mg | 10:1 | 100 mg |
| Maca | 250 mg | not stated | — |
| Ashwagandha | 160 mg | not stated | — |
| Guarana | 60 mg | of which 30 mg caffeine |

The full label
Coffee 2.0 ingredients: the label, line by line.
Since our first check, Tasty Dose has published the full label for each flavour. It gives the milligrams of extract for each mushroom directly, which match the “actual extract” column in the table above, and finally puts figures on the vitamins and minerals. Here is the label for the Café Classique flavour, recorded on 27 October 2026.
Source: “Coffee 2.0 – Café Classique” label published on the tastydose.com product page, accessed on 27 October 2026. The composition varies by flavour: the cocoa versions get their caffeine from guarana, and Premium Dark Roast contains 120 mg of caffeine and only two mushrooms.
Reading the 15,000 mg
Mushroom equivalent or extract: the same product, two numbers.
Coffee 2.0 advertises 15,000 mg of mushrooms per cup. The brand specifies at the bottom of the page that this is a “mushroom equivalent, based on extraction ratios”. Brainstoorm states its doses in the same way. Here is how to read these numbers, ours as well as theirs.
An extract is a concentrate
A 10:1 extract means it took 10 g of dried mushroom to obtain 1 g of extract. The final powder weighs ten times less than the starting material.
The equivalent is the starting weight
When a label states “1,000 mg” with a 10:1 ratio, the cup contains 100 mg of extract. Both numbers are correct; they simply do not measure the same thing.
What to compare
Always the same column on both sides: extract against extract, or equivalent against equivalent. That is what the following table does.
The third useful number
The standardised content: the share of polysaccharides guaranteed in the extract. Brainstoorm's technical data sheet states it; the Coffee 2.0 page does not mention it.
Dosages compared
Brainstoorm and Coffee 2.0, line by line.
For each ingredient, the table gives the actual weight of extract and then, in brackets, the dried-plant equivalent shown on the label. The Brainstoorm figures are those of the coffee flavour, for a 6 g serving.
| Per cup | Brainstoorm coffee | Coffee 2.0 |
|---|---|---|
| Caffeine | 20 mg, microencapsulated | around 100 mg |
| Lion's mane | 100 mg (1,000 mg) | 800 mg (4,000 mg) |
| Cordyceps | 250 mg (1,000 mg) | 48 mg (960 mg) |
| Chaga | 20 mg (1,000 mg) | absent |
| Other mushrooms | none | 5 species, 1,002 mg (10,040 mg) |
| Maca | 375 mg (3,000 mg) | 250 mg, form not specified |
| Ashwagandha | 40 mg of extract | 160 mg, form not specified |
| Rhodiola | in the choc version (25 mg) | 100 mg (1,000 mg) |
| Fibre | chicory 3,500 mg, acacia 889 mg | inulin, amount not stated |
| Vitamin B5 | 6 mg, 100% of the reference intake | present, amount not stated |
| Collagen | none | 1,000 mg, bovine |
| Part of the mushroom | fruiting body | not specified |

Each recipe has its own logic. Coffee 2.0 bets on quantity: seven species, a generous dose of lion's mane, and the caffeine of a real coffee. Brainstoorm bets on balance: three selected mushrooms, five times more cordyceps extract, a good dose of maca, chaga, and five times less caffeine. Its vitamin B5, at 100% of the reference intake, contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue and to normal mental performance.
Caffeine
100 mg on one side, 20 mg on the other.
This is the real dividing line. An espresso contains around 80 mg of caffeine according to the European Food Safety Authority. With around 100 mg per serving, Coffee 2.0 therefore drinks like a strong coffee, enriched with mushrooms. The brand says so itself: the product is not recommended for children, pregnant women or people sensitive to caffeine, and it advises against drinking it late in the evening.
Brainstoorm takes the opposite approach. Each cup contains 20 mg of NewCaff® microencapsulated caffeine, coated so that it is released gradually. The coffee taste comes from roasted chicory, which contains none.
One cup a day
Coffee 2.0: 100 mg. Brainstoorm: 20 mg. The EFSA benchmark for an adult is 400 mg a day, from all sources combined.
With your usual coffees
Two espressos plus one Coffee 2.0: around 260 mg. The same two espressos plus one Brainstoorm: around 180 mg.
In the afternoon
At 20 mg, a cup of Brainstoorm after lunch weighs four times less on your evening than an espresso.
If caffeine is what matters to you, our article how many cups of coffee a day does the maths cup by cup, and coffee and anxiety sets out the signs of having too much.
Vegan, sweeteners, flavours
What the ingredient list changes day to day.
Beyond the doses, three practical points separate the two recipes.
| Brainstoorm | Coffee 2.0 | |
|---|---|---|
| Vegan | yes, both flavours | no: bovine collagen, except Premium Dark Roast |
| Sweetener | xylitol | none (Café Classique), stevia (cocoa flavours) or sucralose (Caramel Salé, Iced Coffee) |
| Flavours | 2: coffee, choc-hazelnut | 8 |
| Number of ingredients | 11, each with its dose | 18, some of them without a stated dose |
| Manufacturing | France, Toulouse area | European Union |
Coffee 2.0 has the edge on choice: eight flavours, where Brainstoorm offers only two. Brainstoorm has the edge on simplicity: a short recipe, with no ingredients of animal origin, and the same mushrooms in both flavours.
Price, shipping, guarantee
The price per cup, depending on how you buy.
Both brands sell pouches of 30 servings. After that, it all depends on quantity and subscription.
| In France | Brainstoorm | Coffee 2.0 |
|---|---|---|
| 1 pouch, no commitment | €42.71, i.e. €1.42 per cup | €39.90, i.e. €1.33 per cup |
| Monthly subscription | €29.90 per month, i.e. €1.00 per cup | not offered on the product page |
| Best listed price | €69.90 for 3 months on subscription, i.e. €0.78 per cup | €119.60 for 4 pouches, i.e. €1.00 per cup |
| Free shipping | from €59 | over €115 |
| Money-back guarantee | 60 days | 90 days |
Prices recorded on 6 October 2026 on mushngo.com and tastydose.com, France store, excluding temporary promotions. Coffee 2.0 includes four free gifts with the first order (frother, spoon, cup, samples).
As a one-off purchase, the two are within 9 cents of each other, in favour of Coffee 2.0, whose guarantee runs 30 days longer. If you drink your cup every day, the Brainstoorm subscription becomes the better deal: €1.00 per cup monthly, €0.78 over three months, with free shipping.

Prices recorded on tastydose.com on 27 October 2026, in each country's version. The site has no Lithuanian version: the Lithuania row is the price the store displays for delivery to that country. In France, these prices are higher than those of our first check on 6 October (€39.90 per pouch), used in the comparison further up.
For other countries, the brand sells on tastydose.com in each country's version, as well as on tasty-dose.de for Germany and Austria and on tastydose.it for Italy. In France, it costs €49.90 per pouch and €37.40 each when buying four; delivery is stated as 2 to 3 working days on the product page (3 to 5 in the terms and conditions).
At dm, in pharmacies, on Allegro or eMAG?
On 27 October 2026, we searched for “coffee 2.0” and “tasty dose” on the websites of the retailers we are asked about most often. Of these, only dm in Slovenia sells a product called Coffee 2.0 online, under the brand The 2.0 Brand, the brand name that tastydose.com also gives its own products. It is a 112 g box, i.e. 14 servings of 8 g, at €19.95 (€1.43 per serving), with a different recipe: five mushrooms including chaga, 100 mg of caffeine, made in Slovenia and a company listed in Ljubljana (Ulla d.o.o.).
| Country | Retailer checked | Result on 27 October 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Slovenia | dm | sold online: 2 flavours at €19.95, gift box at €29.95 |
| Hungary | dm, Rossmann, Árukereső | no results |
| Czech Republic | dm, Dr.Max, Heureka | no results |
| Slovakia | dm | no results |
| Croatia | dm | no results |
| Romania | dm, Dr.Max, eMAG | no results |
| Poland | Rossmann, Allegro | no results |
“No results” means that no Coffee 2.0 or Tasty Dose product appeared in the site's search that day; a retailer may have added it since. We were unable to check eMAG in Hungary and Bulgaria, whose search pages were protected.
How to make it
How to make Coffee 2.0, and how much to drink.
One scoop
9.3 g of powder, i.e. one scoop filled to the 20 ml mark. The brand recommends weighing the powder for an accurate dose.
200 ml of liquid
Hot or cold water, milk or a plant-based drink, then froth. For most flavours, the brand suggests half water, half milk.
Once a day
No more than one scoop a day, counting your other sources of caffeine: coffee, tea, soft drinks, energy drinks.
The brand says you can drink it on top of a regular coffee, as long as you take into account the caffeine already provided by Coffee 2.0. One cup of Coffee 2.0 and two espressos add up to around 260 mg in a day.
Side effects
Coffee 2.0 side effects and precautions.
Tasty Dose does not publish a list of side effects. What can be said comes down to what is in the cup: first the caffeine, then a few ingredients that call for well-known precautions.
Caffeine
100 mg per serving, 120 mg for Premium Dark Roast. EFSA considers up to 200 mg in a single dose and 400 mg a day safe for an adult, and 200 mg a day during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Beyond that, caffeine can make you jittery and disturb your sleep.
Specific groups
The label advises against Coffee 2.0 for children and pregnant women, and asks you to consult a doctor if you are breastfeeding, have a health condition or are taking medication.
The plants
Ashwagandha (160 mg) and rhodiola (100 mg) have no maximum dose set by EFSA. If you are on medication, show the ingredient list to your doctor or pharmacist.
The rest of the recipe
Bovine collagen (except Premium Dark Roast), sucralose in Caramel Salé and Iced Coffee, stevia in the cocoa flavours. Vitamins and minerals stay below EFSA's limits.
| Nutrient | Per serving of Coffee 2.0 | EFSA upper limit, per day |
|---|---|---|
| Vitamin B6 | 1.4 mg | 12 mg |
| Zinc | 7.5 mg | 25 mg |
| Iodine | 0.075 mg | 0.6 mg |
| Vitamin E | 12 mg | 300 mg |
These limits apply to all sources combined, including food. If you already take a multivitamin, add them up.
Weight loss
Coffee 2.0 and weight loss: does it help?
The brand does not present Coffee 2.0 as a weight-loss product: none of the claims on its product page relate to weight. They relate to tiredness, cognitive function, immunity and skin, thanks to the vitamins and minerals. The energy value of a serving is not shown on the label we recorded.
In practical terms, it is a drink with the caffeine of a strong coffee. If your goal is to lose weight, no coffee, enriched or not, replaces diet and physical activity.
Who is behind it

Scam or not
Is Coffee 2.0 a scam or a legitimate brand?
The question comes up often when a brand advertises heavily. Here are the public facts that anyone can check. They are those of an identifiable company that publishes its terms of sale and answers its customers.
- A registered company: Kaching d.o.o., with a legal notice, address, email and phone number published on the website, and a valid VAT number.
- A 14-day right of withdrawal, with an online form, as required by EU law.
- A 90-day guarantee: the product is returned in its original packaging and refunded to the payment method used. Return shipping is at your own expense.
- Standard payment methods: bank card, PayPal and cash on delivery, according to the terms and conditions.
- A public rating of 4.4 out of 5 on Trustpilot, from 2,664 reviews, with replies to 96% of negative reviews.
Before ordering, keep two practical points in mind: shipping is only free above a threshold, €115 in France (the thresholds for other countries are in the table above), and sending a return is at your own expense. As with any online purchase, check the basket summary before paying.
Reviews and forums
Coffee 2.0 reviews, Reddit and forums: what you find online.
Public reviews of Coffee 2.0 can be found in three places. We quote none of them: only the overall figures can be verified.
| Where | What you find there, on 27 October 2026 |
|---|---|
| Trustpilot | 4.4 out of 5 from 2,664 reviews: 79% 5-star, 10% 1-star. Profile claimed by the brand, which invites its customers to leave a review. |
| The brand's website | Reviews collected by the Loox app. The brand says a review is marked “verified” when it is linked to an order. |
| dm Slovenia | 4.4 out of 5 from 9 reviews for the coffee flavour of the 112 g box. |
| Forums and Reddit | Lots of searches, discussion threads whose authors cannot be verified. |
To get something useful out of a review, check which flavour it is about: with ten flavours, two bases (coffee or cocoa) and three sweetener options, two customers may have drunk two very different drinks. And if caffeine makes you jittery, reviews about energy do not apply to you in the same way.
Which one to choose
Ask yourself just one question: how much caffeine do you want?
If the answer is “as much as before”, Coffee 2.0 is a serious product, transparent about its ratios, and you will not go wrong. If the answer is “less”, you are exactly the person we created Brainstoorm for: the taste and the ritual of a morning coffee, without the racing heart at 10 am or the slump at 3 pm.
- 20 mg of caffeine per cup, released gradually, to keep the ritual without the jitters.
- Three mushrooms from the fruiting body, 1,000 mg of equivalent each, with the dose of extract known for every line.
- 3,000 mg of maca equivalent and 6 mg of vitamin B5, which contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
- Vegan recipe, with no animal collagen, made in France.
- No mushroom taste: roasted chicory brings the roundness and bitterness of a coffee.
- 60-day money-back guarantee: you taste, you decide.
More than 50,000 people have already replaced one of their cups with Brainstoorm, and rate it 4.8 out of 5.
Before starting either one
- Both products contain caffeine and are not recommended for children or for pregnant and breastfeeding women.
- Brainstoorm is not recommended if you have a thyroid, liver or heart condition: ask your doctor for advice.
- A food supplement is not a substitute for a varied diet. Do not exceed the stated daily dose.
