Bonjour Drink review
Bonjour Drink is one of the best-known mushroom coffees in France: 2,700 mg of organic extracts per serving, 35 mg of caffeine, and a complete label. It is a benchmark, and deservedly so. Brainstoorm takes a different route: 20 mg of caffeine, maca and ashwagandha alongside the mushrooms, and a recipe designed for just one cup a day. Here are the two labels, line by line.
Who is writing: Mush n Go makes Brainstoorm, a direct competitor of Bonjour Drink. This page compares what each brand states on its website and, for Brainstoorm, the technical data sheet from our contract manufacturer. Figures recorded on 6 October 2026. We have no connection with Bonjour Drink.
Brainstoorm coffee flavour
Lion's mane, cordyceps and chaga from the fruiting body, maca, ashwagandha and roasted chicory. The taste of coffee, without the jitters.
Try Brainstoorm →Brainstoorm choc-hazelnut
The same mushroom base, with cocoa and rhodiola. 60 days to change your mind, with a money-back guarantee.

Two French mushroom coffees, two ways of drinking them.
Bonjour Drink and Brainstoorm have a great deal in common: a 6 g powder to dissolve, three mushrooms in common, both made in France, 60 days to change your mind. The differences lie in the caffeine, the plants that go with the mushrooms, and the number of cups the recipe is built around.
- Brainstoorm is for you if you want as little caffeine as possible (20 mg), if maca and ashwagandha interest you, and if you are looking for a cereal-free recipe that is complete in a single cup.
- Bonjour Drink is for you if you want the greatest weight of mushroom extracts, organic ingredients, a wide choice of flavours including four with no caffeine, and a product you can also find in pharmacies.
- On price, the two brands are neck and neck: €1.49 per cup as a one-off purchase at Bonjour, €1.42 at Brainstoorm; €0.76 versus €0.78 at the best subscription rate.
What is Bonjour Drink
The French pioneer, sold online and in pharmacies.
Bonjour Drink is a Parisian brand that has done a great deal to make mushroom coffee known in France. Its “Bonjour” powder comes in six daytime flavours, including Originale, Café and Cacao, plus a Nuit formula and a Kids formula. The brand says it is stocked in more than 3,000 pharmacies. Here we compare the Café flavour with Brainstoorm coffee flavour.
The ingredients in detail
What is in one serving of Bonjour Café.
Bonjour Drink publishes a complete label for each flavour: the weight of each extract, the list of ingredients, the nutritional values. The doses are expressed as weight of extract, the most demanding column. Here are the figures for a 6 g serving, and for the three servings on which the brand bases its vitamin intakes.
| Ingredient | 1 serving | 3 servings | Part used |
|---|---|---|---|
| Organic lion's mane extract | 750 mg | 2,250 mg | fruiting body |
| Organic chaga extract | 750 mg | 2,250 mg | fruiting body |
| Organic cordyceps extract | 750 mg | 2,250 mg | mycelium |
| Organic mallow flower extract | 300 mg | 900 mg | flowers |
| Organic ginseng extract | 150 mg | 450 mg | root |
| Total extracts | 2,700 mg | 8,100 mg | |
| Caffeine | 35 mg | 105 mg | |
| Vitamin D3 | 3.33 µg | 10 µg, 200% of the reference intake | |
| Vitamin B12 | 0.83 µg | 2.5 µg, 100% of the reference intake |

Extract or equivalent
Two numbers for the same mushroom: how to read them.
On a mushroom coffee label, the same ingredient can appear with two very different weights. Both are correct; they simply do not measure the same thing. Bonjour Drink shows weights of extract; Brainstoorm shows dried-plant equivalents. To compare fairly, we give both figures on the Brainstoorm side.
The extract is what is in the cup
An extract is a concentrate. With a 10:1 ratio, it took 10 g of dried mushroom to obtain 1 g of powder.
The equivalent is the starting weight
“1,000 mg dry equivalent” with a 10:1 ratio means 100 mg of extract in the cup.
The part of the mushroom matters
The fruiting body is the mushroom itself; the mycelium is its network of filaments. Both are used, and a clear label says which.
The rule for comparing
Always the same column on both sides: extract against extract, equivalent against equivalent. That is what the following table does.
Dosages compared
Brainstoorm and Bonjour Drink, line by line.
For Brainstoorm, the table gives the actual weight of extract and then, in brackets, the dried-plant equivalent. For Bonjour, the stated weight of extract, with no equivalent since the brand does not publish its ratios. One 6 g serving on each side.

Each recipe has its own logic. Bonjour bets on weight: 2,700 mg of extracts per serving, seven times more than Brainstoorm, with vitamins calculated for three servings a day. Brainstoorm bets on the balance of a single cup: three mushrooms, a good dose of maca, ashwagandha, a cereal-free chicory base, and the lower caffeine content of the two. Its vitamin B5, at 100% of the reference intake from the very first cup, contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue and to normal mental performance.
Caffeine
35 mg on one side, 20 mg on the other.
With 35 mg of caffeine per serving, Bonjour Café is already a light coffee: an espresso contains around 80 mg according to the European Food Safety Authority. The brand also offers four caffeine-free flavours, which is a real advantage if you want to cut it out completely.
Brainstoorm sits between the two: 20 mg per cup, enough to keep that little morning lift, little enough not to weigh on the rest of your day. This caffeine is microencapsulated (NewCaff®), meaning it is coated so that it is released gradually. The coffee taste comes from roasted chicory, which contains none.
One cup a day
Bonjour Café: 35 mg. Brainstoorm: 20 mg. The EFSA benchmark for an adult is 400 mg a day, from all sources combined.
At the maximum recommended dose
Three servings of Bonjour Café: 105 mg, a little more than an espresso. Brainstoorm is taken as one cup: 20 mg.
In the afternoon
At 20 mg, a cup of Brainstoorm after lunch weighs four times less on your evening than an espresso.
If caffeine is what matters to you, our article how many cups of coffee a day does the maths cup by cup, and coffee and anxiety sets out the signs of having too much.
Price, shipping, guarantee
The price per cup, and the price per day.
Both brands sell pouches of 30 servings, at very similar prices. The real question is how many servings you will have each day.
| In France | Brainstoorm | Bonjour Café |

| Best listed price | €69.90 for 3 months on subscription, i.e. €0.78 per cup | €68.80 for 3 pouches on subscription, i.e. €0.76 per cup |
| Free shipping | from €59 | with a subscription |
| Money-back guarantee | 60 days | 60 days, first order on subscription, €5.50 withheld |
Prices recorded on 6 October 2026 on mushngo.com and bonjourdrink.co, excluding temporary promotions. Bonjour's FAQ gives €39 for a one-pouch subscription; we have used the price shown on the sales page. Bonjour includes a free frother and a measuring spoon depending on the number of pouches.
Per cup, it is a draw, give or take a few cents. Per day, it all depends on how you use it: one cup of Brainstoorm comes to €1.00 on subscription; three servings of Bonjour, the dose on which the brand bases its vitamins, come to around €3.12.
Which one to choose
The weight of extracts, or the gentlest cup?
If what you want above all is the largest quantity of mushroom extracts, and organic ones, Bonjour Drink is a safe choice and you will not go wrong. If what you are after is the ritual of a morning coffee without the racing heart at 10 am or the slump at 3 pm, you are the person we created Brainstoorm for.
- 20 mg of caffeine per cup, released gradually: almost half the amount in Bonjour Café.
- Three mushrooms from the fruiting body, 1,000 mg of equivalent each, including 250 mg of cordyceps extract.
- Two extra plants: 3,000 mg of maca equivalent, plus ashwagandha, neither of which is in the Bonjour recipe.
- A cereal-free recipe: roasted chicory and acacia fibre, no barley and no rye.
- 6 mg of vitamin B5 in a single cup, i.e. 100% of the reference intake: it contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
- No mushroom taste: roasted chicory brings the roundness and bitterness of a coffee.
- 60-day money-back guarantee: you taste, you decide.
More than 50,000 people have already replaced one of their cups with Brainstoorm, and rate it 4.8 out of 5.
Before starting either one
- Both products contain caffeine and are not recommended for children or for pregnant and breastfeeding women. Bonjour also advises against its product if you are on antidiabetic or anticoagulant treatment.
