MycoMedica review
Hericium, from the Czech brand MycoMedica, is a pure lion's mane extract in capsules: 500 mg of extract per capsule, standardised to 30% polysaccharides, with no excipients at all, taken at one to two capsules a day. It is a simple, easy-to-read and inexpensive product, widely stocked in Czech pharmacies. Focus, by Mush n Go, makes a different choice: one capsule a day that combines lion's mane with four plants and two vitamins, with 60 days to change your mind. Here are the two labels, line by line.
Who is writing: Mush n Go makes Focus, a product that competes with the one from MycoMedica. MycoMedica's website does not allow automated reading: the information on Hericium therefore comes from Czech retailers who reproduce the label, and we have kept only what matches at two or more of them. For Focus, we use the technical data sheet from our contract manufacturer. Figures recorded on 7 October 2026. We have no connection with MycoMedica.
Focus
Lion's mane from the fruiting body, ginkgo, bacopa, saffron and maritime pine, with vitamins B2 and B3. One capsule in the morning.

Discover Brainstoorm →Our verdict in brief
A pure extract at a low price, or a complete formula in one capsule.
MycoMedica Hericium and Focus start from the same mushroom, lion's mane, with the same declared polysaccharide content: 30%. MycoMedica stops there: a single ingredient, at twice the dose per capsule. Mush n Go builds a formula: in it, lion's mane sits alongside ginkgo, bacopa, saffron and maritime pine, with two B vitamins.
- Focus is for you if you want a complete formula rather than a single ingredient, extracts whose mushroom part and contents are set out in writing, and the right to try it for 60 days.
- MycoMedica Hericium is for you if you are looking for lion's mane on its own, at a good dose, with no excipients, and if the price per day is your first criterion.
- On price, MycoMedica is clearly cheaper: around €0.63 per day at two capsules from Czech retailers, versus €1.42 for Focus as a one-off purchase and €0.78 on a three-month subscription.
What is MycoMedica
A Czech brand, born of Chinese medicine.
MycoMedica is the brand of TCM POINT s.r.o., a Czech company founded in 2010 and headquartered in Prague. Its mushroom supplements are sold in pharmacies and in many specialist shops, and the brand states that it makes them in the Czech Republic. Hericium is its most widely distributed lion's mane product; there are two other versions, with a higher standardised content, which we have not covered here.
The ingredients in detail
What is in one capsule of MycoMedica Hericium.
The label reproduced by the retailers fits on one line: a pure lion's mane extract, with nothing else. It gives the weight of extract and the polysaccharide content. For this version, it does not specify the part of the mushroom used or the extraction ratio.
| Per capsule | Declared amount | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Lion's mane extract | 500 mg | pure extract, hot-water extraction |
| of which polysaccharides | 150 mg | 30% declared; our calculation |
| Beta-glucans | not stated | for this version |
| Part of the mushroom | not specified | fruiting body or mycelium |
| Extraction ratio | not stated | |
| Excipients | none declared | no gluten, sugar or colouring |
| Vitamin C | none | the brand advises taking some alongside |

Extract or equivalent
Two numbers for the same mushroom: how to read them.
On a mushroom capsule label, the same ingredient can appear with two very different weights. Both are correct; they simply do not measure the same thing. MycoMedica declares a weight of extract; so does Focus, along with its dried-mushroom equivalent. We give both figures on the Focus side.
The extract is what is in the capsule
An extract is a concentrate. With a 10:1 ratio, it took 10 g of dried mushroom to obtain 1 g of powder.
The equivalent is the starting weight
“1,000 mg dry equivalent” with a 10:1 ratio means 100 mg of extract in the capsule.
The part of the mushroom matters
The fruiting body is the mushroom itself; the mycelium is its network of filaments. Both are used, and a clear label says which.
The rule for comparing
Always the same column on both sides: extract against extract, equivalent against equivalent. That is what the following table does.
Dosages compared
Focus and MycoMedica Hericium, line by line.
The table compares one capsule of Focus with the usual dose of MycoMedica Hericium, which ranges from one to two capsules a day. For Focus, the dried-plant equivalent appears in brackets where the technical data sheet gives it.
| Per day | Focus | MycoMedica Hericium |
|---|---|---|
| Capsules per day | 1 | 1 to 2 |
| Lion's mane | 250 mg of 4:1 extract (1,000 mg), fruiting body | 500 to 1,000 mg of extract; part of the mushroom not specified |
| Polysaccharides | 75 mg | 150 to 300 mg, based on the 30% declared |
| Ginkgo | 60 mg of extract, of which 14.4 mg flavonol glycosides | absent |
| Bacopa | 75 mg of extract, of which 15 mg bacosides | absent |
| Maritime pine | 36 mg of bark extract | absent |
| Saffron | 14 mg of extract | absent |
| Vitamin B3 | 16 mg, 100% of the reference intake | absent |
| Vitamin B2 | 1.4 mg, 100% of the reference intake | absent |
| Excipients | none, apart from the capsule | none declared |
| Organic | no | no |
| Capsule | plant-based | plant-based or gelatine, depending on the version |

On lion's mane alone, MycoMedica is ahead: two to four times more extract per day, with the same polysaccharide content. Focus is not competing on that ground. It states the part of the mushroom used, brings five extracts together in a single capsule and adds two vitamins at 100% of the reference intake: vitamin B3 contributes to normal psychological function and, like vitamin B2, to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
One active or seven
A single mushroom, or a formula with seven actives.
This is the real difference between the two products. MycoMedica isolates one mushroom and offers it pure: you know what you are taking, and nothing else. If you want lion's mane, and only lion's mane, it is a clear approach, at a price that is hard to beat.
Mush n Go blends. Focus combines lion's mane with four plants that are often found together in this type of formula, ginkgo, bacopa, saffron and maritime pine, and rounds it off with vitamins B2 and B3. Each extract is standardised: the technical data sheet gives the flavonol glycoside content of the ginkgo or the bacoside content of the bacopa.
How to take it
Focus: one capsule a day, with a meal. MycoMedica Hericium: one to two capsules a day, away from meals, five days out of seven according to the retailers.
How long it lasts
A box of Focus covers 30 days. A box of MycoMedica Hericium, 45 to 90 days depending on the dose.
The drink
Would you rather drink than swallow a capsule? Brainstoorm brings lion's mane, cordyceps and chaga together in a coffee-flavoured cup.

We were not able to read the brand's own prices: those for MycoMedica are Czech retailers' prices, in koruna, converted at the European Central Bank rate of 6 October 2026. Focus prices were recorded on the France store.
| Prices recorded | Focus | MycoMedica Hericium |
|---|---|---|
| Unit price | €42.71 for 30 capsules, i.e. €1.42 per day | 690 Kč (€28.27) for 90 capsules, i.e. €0.63 per day at 2 capsules, €0.31 at 1 capsule |
| Monthly subscription | €29.90, i.e. €1.00 per day | not recorded |
| 3 months | €99.86, i.e. €1.11 per day; €69.90 on subscription, i.e. €0.78 | not recorded |
| Shipping | free from €59 in France | depends on the retailer |
| Money-back guarantee | 60 days, even once the box is open | not recorded; depends on the retailer |
Prices recorded on 7 October 2026 on mushngo.com (France store) and at three Czech retailers showing the same price of 690 Kč (€1 = 24.405 Kč). These are not the prices on the brand's website, which we did not read. Shipping and returns conditions depend on each retailer.
MycoMedica Hericium costs far less per day, whatever the dose. Focus costs more because it does not contain the same thing: five extracts and two vitamins instead of a single ingredient. It adds a written right to try: 60 days to ask for a refund, even after the box has been opened.
Which one to choose
Lion's mane on its own, or one capsule that does several things?
If you know that lion's mane is what you want, on its own and at a good dose, MycoMedica Hericium is a simple, economical choice and you will not go wrong. If you are looking for a daily capsule for your working days, designed as a whole, you are the person we created Focus for.

- Four plants on top: ginkgo, bacopa, saffron and maritime pine, each with its content stated.
- Vitamins B2 and B3 at 100% of the reference intake: they contribute to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

- 60-day money-back guarantee: you try, you decide.
Mush n Go is rated 4.8 out of 5 by its customers.
