Hifas da Terra review

Mico-Leo, from the Spanish laboratory Hifas da Terra, is a pure organic lion's mane extract in capsules: 990 mg of extract in two capsules a day, with a stated beta-glucan content and published analyses. It is a specialist's product, built around a single mushroom. Focus, by Mush n Go, makes a different choice: one capsule a day that combines lion's mane with four plants and two vitamins, at a lower price and with 60 days to change your mind. Here are the two labels, line by line.

990 mgof lion's mane extract in 2 capsules of Mico-Leo
250 mgof lion's mane extract in 1 capsule of Focus, with 4 plants and 2 vitamins
1capsule a day for Focus, 2 for Mico-Leo

Who is writing: Mush n Go makes Focus, a product that competes with the one from Hifas da Terra. Our verdict in brief

A pure extract, or a complete formula in one capsule.

Mico-Leo and Focus start from the same mushroom, lion's mane, and the former stops there. Hifas da Terra offers a single extract, high-strength, organic and documented batch by batch. Mush n Go offers a formula: in it, lion's mane sits alongside ginkgo, bacopa, saffron and maritime pine, with two B vitamins.

  • Focus is for you if you want a complete formula rather than a single ingredient, just one capsule a day, a gentler price and the right to try it for 60 days.
  • Mico-Leo is for you if you are looking for the highest dose of lion's mane, organic, with no other ingredient, and with certificates of analysis you can consult for every batch.
  • On price, Focus is cheaper: €1.42 a day as a one-off purchase versus €1.67 for Mico-Leo, and €1.00 versus €1.58 on a monthly subscription.

The ingredients in detail

What is in two capsules of Mico-Leo.

The Mico-Leo product page is one of the best documented we have read: weight of extract, part of the mushroom, measured compound contents, and six downloadable certificates per batch. Here are the figures for the daily dose of two capsules.

Per 2 capsules Stated amount Detail
Organic lion's mane extract 990 mg fruiting body; stated ratio 6:1
of which beta-glucans 200 mg
of which hericenones C and D 4,742 µg

Source: “Mico-Leo” product page and quality page on hifasdaterra.com (Spain store), recorded on 6 October 2026. The analysis report published by the brand for a batch from November 2024 shows a higher beta-glucan content than the product page; we have kept the figure shown on the product page.

Extract or equivalent

Two numbers for the same mushroom: how to read them.

On a mushroom capsule label, the same ingredient can appear with two very different weights. Both are correct; they simply do not measure the same thing. Hifas da Terra shows a weight of extract; so does Focus, along with its dried-mushroom equivalent. We give both figures on the Focus side.

The extract is what is in the capsule

An extract is a concentrate. With a 10:1 ratio, it took 10 g of dried mushroom to obtain 1 g of powder.

The equivalent is the starting weight

“1,000 mg dry equivalent” with a 10:1 ratio means 100 mg of extract in the capsule.

The part of the mushroom matters

The fruiting body is the mushroom itself; the mycelium is its network of filaments. Both are used, and a clear label says which.

The rule for comparing

Always the same column on both sides: extract against extract, equivalent against equivalent. That is what the following table does.

Dosages compared

Focus and Mico-Leo, line by line.

The table compares the daily dose of each product: one capsule of Focus, two capsules of Mico-Leo. For Focus, the dried-plant equivalent appears in brackets where the technical data sheet gives it.

Per day Focus Mico-Leo
Capsules per day 1 2
Lion's mane 250 mg of 4:1 extract (1,000 mg), fruiting body 990 mg of extract, fruiting body
Measured compounds 75 mg of polysaccharides 200 mg of beta-glucans
Ginkgo 60 mg of extract, of which 14.4 mg flavonol glycosides absent
Bacopa 75 mg of extract, of which 15 mg bacosides absent
Maritime pine 36 mg of bark extract absent
Saffron 14 mg of extract absent
Vitamin B3 16 mg, 100% of the reference intake absent
Vitamin B2 1.4 mg, 100% of the reference intake absent
Vitamin C absent 12 mg, 15% of the reference intake

On lion's mane alone, Mico-Leo is clearly ahead: nearly four times more extract per day, organic, with a stated beta-glucan content. Focus is not competing on that ground. It brings five extracts together in a single capsule and adds two vitamins at 100% of the reference intake: vitamin B3 contributes to normal psychological function and, like vitamin B2, to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

One active or seven

A single mushroom, or a formula with seven actives.

This is the real difference between the two products, and it comes down to each brand's idea of what a supplement should be. Hifas da Terra isolates one mushroom and concentrates it: you know exactly what you are taking, and nothing else. If you want lion's mane, and only lion's mane, it is an approach that is hard to fault.

Mush n Go blends. Focus combines lion's mane with four plants that are often found together in this type of formula, ginkgo, bacopa, saffron and maritime pine, and rounds it off with vitamins B2 and B3. Each extract is standardised: the technical data sheet gives the flavonol glycoside content of the ginkgo or the bacoside content of the bacopa.

How to take it

Focus: one capsule a day, with a meal. Mico-Leo: two capsules a day, before breakfast or lunch.

How long it lasts

A box of Focus covers 30 days. So does a refill of Mico-Leo, and the brand recommends at least three months.

The drink

Would you rather drink than swallow a capsule? Brainstoorm brings lion's mane, cordyceps and chaga together in a coffee-flavoured cup.
